Two-bedroom cottage on the Bonython Estate near Cury Cross Lanes, sleeping four with two bathrooms. The cottage adjoins Mews Cottage in a private courtyard and sits three miles south of Helston on the road down to the Lizard.

Guests have free run of the 20-acre Bonython Estate gardens - one of Cornwall's Great Gardens, with a walled potager and a valley holding three small lakes. Poldhu Cove is 3.3km west, where the first transatlantic radio signal was sent from the Marconi Wireless Station in 1901. Mullion Cove harbour sits four miles south, Kynance Cove eight miles, and the Lizard Lighthouse ten. Helston is three miles north.

Best for two couples or a small family of four wanting a quiet rural base with garden access and easy reach of both Lizard coasts. Helston's Flora Day festival in early May is worth timing a stay around. Less good for dog owners or anyone wanting nightlife - the village is small and a car is essential.
