Suntrap House

Above the harbour in Portloe, Suntrap House is a one-bedroom conversion of a stone and slate-tiled barn, with coastal and sea views. It sits on the South West Coast Path, and the kitchen window looks over the sea and cliffs. The pub and the harbour beach are each 0.1 miles away.

Slate steps rise from the lane to a front terrace with patio furniture. Inside are an open-plan living area with a large sofa, armchairs and a dining area, then a few steps up to the kitchen. That has an oven, hob, microwave, a fridge with ice box, a toaster and a kettle, but no dishwasher or washing machine. More steps lead to the shower room and the bedroom, which has a king-size bed and a hairdryer. Night storage heaters and electric radiators provide the heat, and bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included. There is a Smart TV and WiFi.

Steep steps run up through the garden to a rear terrace with a bench, table and sun loungers. The garden is not completely enclosed and has some steep drops, which matters if you bring a dog. One small well-behaved pet is welcome. Parking outside is narrow roadside space fit for unloading, and the large village car park is 0.1 mile away. The shop is 1.6 miles away and a larger beach is 2.5 miles away.

Ideal for a couple or a solo traveller. It is less good for anyone who finds steps difficult, or for a family, since children under 15 are not accepted. Smoking and vaping are not allowed.
