Tamarisk

Tamarisk is a two-storey cottage for six in Mousehole, a granite-built fishing village where the harbour dries out at low tide. Its king room and twin are joined by a bunk bedroom with narrow 2ft 6in beds, reached through one of the two bathrooms - a layout worth knowing before booking if rooms need to stay private from each other.

Terraced gardens and a sun room look across Mount's Bay towards St Michael's Mount. Wi-Fi, parking with a garage, a dishwasher and washing machine are included. Dogs are not accepted at Tamarisk, so guests travelling with pets should look elsewhere in the village.

Mousehole village is 500 metres from the cottage, and Mousehole Beach sits beside the harbour. The coast path connects the village to Lamorna Cove, 2 miles away, and on to Eastern Green Beach, 3.5 miles in the other direction. Narrow lanes lead from the cottage down to the harbour, past 17th and 18th-century stone cottages, with the Rock Pool cafe and a handful of galleries and restaurants on the quay.

The living area, kitchen, sun room and a walk-in shower room are on the ground floor, and the bedrooms are up an open-tread staircase. Each level of the terraced gardens is reached by a short flight of steps, so the cottage does not suit guests who need step-free access.

**Best for:** A family wanting sea views, a sun room, terraced gardens, laundry facilities and Mousehole Beach nearby.

**Less good for:** Dog owners, guests concerned by narrow bunks reached through a bathroom, or anyone who needs step-free access.
