The Alverton

The Alverton is a Grade II listed hotel in Truro city centre, converted from a 19th-century monastery in 1984. Pendower Beach is 5.9 miles from the hotel and Carne Beach 6.2 miles, both on the Roseland side of the county. Truro's cathedral and museum quarter sit a short walk from the front door, useful before heading out to the coast or the Eden Project further east.

Best for a city-centre stay with a serious restaurant attached and a base for touring both coasts. Less good for anyone wanting to walk straight onto sand, since the nearest beach is a drive away.
