Sea views are available from the upper bedrooms, and the cottage is 500 metres from Portreath Beach - a sandy surf beach below the cliffs with a seasonal lifeguard service running from May to September.

The kitchen includes a dishwasher and washing machine, which suits stays of a week or more. Parking is provided. The village pub and a small convenience store are within a 5-minute walk. Godrevy Beach, with its lighthouse visible from Porthminster on clear days, is 8km along the B3301 coastal road.

This cottage is ideal for two couples or a family with children who want direct beach access without a car journey. The lack of WiFi makes it less good for remote workers or those with teenagers who need a reliable connection. Gwithian Towans, a broad dune-backed beach, extends the beach options a further 8.8km along the coast. The St Agnes Heritage Coast - a mining landscape with cliff walks - is accessible within a 20-minute drive north-east, adding a walking option away from the beach. The Cornish coast path from Portreath itself gives clifftop walking directly from the village.
