The lack of WiFi makes it less good for remote workers or those with teenagers who need a reliable connection. Gwithian Towans, a broad dune-backed beach, extends the beach options a further 5.5 miles along the coast. The St Agnes Heritage Coast - a mining landscape with cliff walks - is accessible within a 20-minute drive north-east, adding a walking option away from the beach. The Cornish coast path from Portreath itself gives clifftop walking directly from the village.
