The Engine House

The Engine House is a Grade II-listed conversion at Perran Foundry, a World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Kennall that is over 200 years old. As its name suggests, it was once the beating heart of the foundry, and the building has been brought back to life as a contemporary home set into the old foundry fabric. The living room has a vaulted, beamed ceiling with a log burner and a large breakfast bar leading into the modern, fully fitted kitchen with integrated Bosch appliances. On the ground floor is one of the two double bedrooms and a stylish bathroom with bath and shower; upstairs is the second bedroom with its own en-suite. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and all bed linen and towels are provided.

Falmouth and its beaches, and the historic city of Truro, are each around 10 minutes away by car. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Devichoys Wood is on the doorstep for walks, and two traditional Cornish pubs serving home-cooked food are within walking distance. Mylor, the sailing hub, is a 2-mile drive, and the Bissoe cycling route runs close to the Foundry.

Best for couples or small groups wanting a characterful base close to Falmouth and Truro, with a wood burner and private garden. Less good for dog owners, since pets aren't permitted at this property.
