Porthleven Beach is 700m from the cottage, a long shingle and sand beach that's popular with local surfers when conditions allow.

The cottage has an enclosed garden and parking, making it practical for dogs. Inside, a dishwasher, washing machine, and WiFi are included. From £485 per night. The wood burner and open fire give it year-round capability - Porthleven is worth visiting outside peak season when the harbour is most photogenic and the restaurants are less busy. Porthcew Rinsey Cove is 3.9km for a change of beach scenery, and Praa Sands - a long south-facing surf beach - is 5.6km.

Ideal for couples or small families of up to 4 who want a working Cornish fishing town rather than a resort. Good for guests interested in local food, as the harbour area has a solid concentration of independent restaurants and fish suppliers. Not great for guests who need a calm swimming beach within walking distance, as Porthleven's beach shelves sharply and surf conditions can be strong.
