Roche Rock - a granite outcrop with the ruins of a 15th-century hermit's chapel built into the stone face - is in the parish and worth a look. The Eden Project is about 5 miles south-east, two giant biomes covering tropical and Mediterranean plant collections in a former china clay pit. Carlyon Bay beach, a wide sandy stretch near St Austell, is around 5 miles away. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are about 10 miles south. Charlestown's Georgian harbour, used as a filming location for Poldark, is a similar distance.

**Best for:** groups of up to 8 wanting a mid-Cornwall rural base with good access to the Eden Project, Heligan, and the south coast beaches. **Less good for:** anyone wanting a coastal or sea-view property, guests needing accessible facilities, families with dogs (not dog-friendly).
