The Old Stable

The Old Stable is a converted stone cottage in Porthallow, a small fishing cove on the east coast of the Lizard, sleeping 2 in a single mezzanine bedroom. The conversion retains the original stable character with stone walls and compact proportions - well suited to a couple looking for a quiet base rather than a large holiday let.

Inside, the layout is straightforward: a living area on the ground floor, a mezzanine bedroom above, and a single bathroom. Wi-Fi and off-road parking are included. Dogs are welcome. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher or washing machine, so this suits shorter self-catered stays rather than longer winter lets.

Porthallow itself is one of the Lizard's least-visited corners - a working cove with a shingle beach, a handful of fishing boats, and the Five Pilchards pub at the top of the beach. Porthoustock Beach, a shingle cove with access to the Manacles reef dive site, is about 1.8 miles away on the coast path. Coverack is around 4 miles further south along the same path, passing Nare Point.

**Best for:** Couples wanting a low-key base on the east Lizard; divers heading to the Manacles; coast path walkers doing the eastern Lizard section. **Less good for:** Families with children, those wanting a sandy beach within walking distance, or guests needing more than basic kitchen facilities.
