The Plume of Feathers

The Plume of Feathers is a 16th-century coaching inn and dining pub in the village of Mitchell, around 8 miles southeast of Newquay. The accommodation rooms are converted from original farm outbuildings - barns, stables, and former hen houses - fitted out with Farrow & Ball paint, freestanding baths, and monsoon showers. The restaurant operates in a beamed dining room with exposed oak and serves a full Cornish breakfast as well as a Sunday lunch menu using local produce. The bar hosts live music nights and local ales.

This is a good option for guests who want a base with character and a strong food offering, rather than a self-catering setup. It suits couples or solo travellers using Cornwall as a touring destination - Mitchell sits near the A30, making it convenient for day trips across the county. Dogs are welcome, parking is free, and a garden is available.

Great Western Beach in Newquay is 5.3 miles away. Newquay town centre, with surf hire, restaurants, and the South West Coast Path headland walks, is around 8 miles north. The Eden Project is approximately 12 miles south.

Less good for guests wanting seafront access or a beach-walk location - Mitchell is an inland village without a beach within walking distance. The property is not rated for self-catering and has no kitchen facilities for guests. Wifi and parking are free, and the property accepts dogs throughout.
