Tolcarne Beach
Description
Tolcarne Beach, located in Newquay, Cornwall, is a crescent-shaped sandy beach renowned for its stunning natural scenery and excellent surfing conditions. Sheltered by cliffs, Tolcarne offers a more secluded feel compared to some of the other beaches in Newquay.
The beach is particularly popular among surfers of all levels, thanks to its consistent and varied waves. Surf schools and equipment rental facilities are available for those looking to learn or improve their skills. For non-surfers, the soft sand and gentle slope into the sea make it ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
At low tide, Tolcarne Beach connects to neighboring beaches, allowing visitors to explore further along the coast. This tidal change also reveals fascinating rock pools and creates ample space for beach games and walks.
Dogs are welcome throughout the year. The RNLI lifeguards patrol from May to September. The Wedge, located on the beach, serves freshly made coffee, cakes, ice cream, and lunch options. Parking is available at the nearby Manor Car Park, and toilets are situated at the westerly end of the beach.
Accessibility to Tolcarne Beach is via a steep road or steps, which might be challenging for some visitors. Parking is available at the top of the cliff, with a walk down to the beach.
