The Porthole

The Porthole is a 3-bedroom cottage on Tintagel Terrace above Port Isaac, sleeping 5 with sea views from both bedroom levels. The position above the village means the views come with some steep steps - but also with sightlines across the narrow inlet that make this a property with a strong sense of place.

Inside there are 3 bedrooms sharing 1 bathroom, a wood burner, and an open fire - both well-suited to the north Cornwall coast in shoulder season. The garden gives outdoor sitting space above the rooftops. Wi-Fi, parking, dishwasher, and washing machine are all included. No pets.

Port Gaverne Beach - a sheltered cove with calmer water than the exposed north coast - is just 0.1 miles east on foot. Port Isaac harbour itself is a short walk down into the village, where Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant and several smaller fish cafes serve fresh crab and lobster. The Fisherman's Friends, known for sea shanties on the Platt, still perform here in summer. Polzeath Beach for surf is about 4 miles south.

Best for groups who want sea views and an open fire in a village with real character, and who don't mind a hilly setting. Less good for anyone with limited mobility, groups needing more than 1 bathroom, or families with dogs.
