The Retreat

The Retreat is a 1-bedroom annexe near Fowey, sleeping 2 in a super-king-size zip-and-link bed that can be separated into twin beds on request at booking. The open-plan kitchen-diner has patio doors opening directly to the garden, which looks out over countryside rather than the road. Washing machine and parking are included. Dog-friendly.

Readymoney Cove is 1.1km away on foot - a small sandy beach set at the foot of the estuary south of Fowey town, with calm, clear water and a National Trust car park at the top of the lane. Lantic Bay (2.8km along the South West Coast Path) is a larger open beach accessible only on foot or by boat, and one of the more remote coves on this stretch of south Cornwall. Lansallos Beach (4.7km) is similarly unspoilt.

This cottage suits couples who want a quiet countryside setting within easy reach of Fowey's harbour and the coastal path. It works well for guests who prefer walking to beaches rather than driving. One dog is welcome. The super-king zip-and-link configuration makes it a practical choice for both couples and friends travelling as 2.

Less good for those wanting a sea view or a property in the town itself - the annexe is set back in a garden setting. Fowey town centre is about 1 mile by road, with independent restaurants, shops, and regular passenger ferry to Bodinnick. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are around 9 miles west.
