The Roost

The Roost is a ground-floor, one-bedroom cottage in Camborne, sleeping two with one bathroom. A private garden has a patio and barbecue, and fuel and power costs are included in the rent, worth noting for a longer stay.

Wi-Fi and parking are included. Dogs are not accepted, and the cottage is not suitable for children. It is an all-ground-floor annexe beside the owners' home, with one double bedroom, a shower room and an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with an electric fire. Parking is for 1 car, covered by CCTV, and a shed stores bikes. A Eurasian eagle owl lives on site. The pub is 0.6 miles away and the nearest shop 1.2 miles. Changeover day is Saturday.

Camborne sits on the main London Paddington to Penzance rail line, with the free Heartlands heritage centre at nearby Pool telling the story of Cornish mining among the surrounding UNESCO World Heritage engine houses. Carn Brea, the rocky hill south of town, has a hillfort and medieval castle remains with panoramic views on a clear day. Portreath Beach is 4.1 miles north, Gwithian Towans is 4.7 miles away and Godrevy Beach is 4.9 miles. Tehidy Country Park, with around 250 acres of woodland, is also nearby. **Best for:** a couple wanting a ground-floor cottage, private garden and parking near Camborne's shops and station, without paying beach-town prices. **Less good for:** dog owners, or anyone wanting to walk to a beach rather than drive.
