The Shippen

The Shippen is a two-bedroom character cottage at the seaward end of a row of three, positioned above where the Valency river meets the sea at Boscastle harbour on the north Cornwall coast. Sleeping four, the cottage has uninterrupted harbour views and sits a two-minute walk from the village.

The layout runs across two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living space with an open fire. Wi-Fi, a dishwasher and a washing machine are included. Two steps lead down from the hall into the sitting room. Dogs are not accepted. Private parking is provided.

Boscastle harbour is National Trust owned, and the village carries a Museum of Witchcraft and Magic with the world's largest collection of related artefacts. The 17th-century Cobweb Inn and the farm shop are both a short walk along the main street. Walks up the Valency Valley reach the church at St Juliot, associated with Thomas Hardy.

Trebarwith Strand beach is around 5 miles south, and Crackington Haven around 5 miles north. Tintagel, with its Iron Age and medieval castle on the cliffs, is 3 miles to the south. Port Isaac is approximately 30 minutes by car. Rated 9.7 from 46 reviews, with prices from £661 per week.

Best for couples or small families who want a character cottage with direct harbour views and coast path access. Less good for those needing a sandy beach within walking distance.
