The Stable

The Stable is a two-bedroom farm cottage near Kilkhampton, sleeping 4 across one bathroom. A large lawned garden includes ponds, worth knowing for families with young children or dogs, as the merchant asks that children are supervised near the ponds. Guests who need step-free access should check with the owner before booking. WiFi, parking, a dishwasher and washing machine are included, dogs are welcome, and changeover day is Thursday.

Kilkhampton itself is a proper working village with a pub, a post office and a primary school, plus St James's church, known for over 150 carved medieval bench ends. The Coombe Valley nature reserve, a wooded valley about a mile west managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, has waymarked trails and breeding woodland birds, and Kilkhampton Lake offers a roughly 2-mile circular walk east of the village.

Duckpool Beach is about 2 miles away by road, with Sandymouth Beach and Northcott Mouth Beach a little further - all a short drive rather than a walk. Bude's canal and town beaches are under 20 minutes away by car.

**Best for:** a family of four wanting a large garden with ponds, laundry facilities and a choice of nearby beaches. **Less good for:** guests needing a confirmed bed layout.
