Treehaven 38 is a turret-style cottage within the St Mellion Estate in South Cornwall, sleeping 2 in a super-king zip-and-link bed on the first floor, reached by a spiral staircase from the hallway. A bunk bedroom on the same floor suits a child or a second adult on a tighter budget. The enclosed garden has a private hot tub and BBQ, and guests have full access to the estate's spa and two 18-hole golf courses - the Nick Faldo-designed International Course and the Kernow Course.

The estate's bar and restaurant mean guests can eat on-site without driving, which is useful given the rural setting. Plymouth city centre is about 12 miles, with the Barbican, Royal William Yard, and the National Marine Aquarium accessible by road. The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty begins just to the north, with the Bere Peninsula accessible by ferry from Calstock or by road.

For coastal days, Downderry Beach on the south Cornish coast is 13.9km - a sheltered single-arched bay popular with families - and Whitsand Bay with its cliff-backed miles of sand is 14.4km. Best for couples or families with one child who want an estate setting with leisure facilities and don't need a sea view. Works for golfers using the Faldo course who want on-site accommodation.
