Tringey Barn is a converted barn set in countryside near Hayle, sleeping 6 in 3 bedrooms with its main living space on the upper floor to make use of the farmland views. That inverted layout - sitting room and kitchen at the top, bedrooms below - is what sets this property apart from the cluster of beach-facing lets further along the bay.

Sleeping accommodation is across 3 bedrooms on the ground floor: 2 king-size rooms (one with en-suite shower and triple-aspect windows) and a twin. The first-floor kitchen and lounge are open-plan under a vaulted ceiling. Outside, a hot tub and charcoal BBQ sit on the front terrace within a large enclosed garden. WiFi, wood burner, dishwasher and washing machine are all included. Driveway parking holds 4 cars. No dogs allowed.

Porthkidney Beach is 2.7 miles away, and Hayle's 3-mile stretch of sand at Hayle Towans starts about 3.4 miles to the north-west. St Ives, with the Tate St Ives gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, is a 15-minute drive west. Gwithian and Godrevy Point - where the lighthouse inspired Virginia Woolf's novel - is a similar drive to the east.

Good for: groups of 6 wanting countryside seclusion with beach access in both directions. Less good for: those bringing dogs, or anyone expecting to walk to the beach - a car is essential here.
