Waddles Cottage

Waddles Cottage is a traditional stone cottage in the village of St Merryn, sleeping four in two bedrooms - a king-size and a twin - served by a single bathroom. The enclosed garden has room for up to 2 dogs, and parking is included on site. The cottage has the solid, low-ceilinged proportions of North Cornwall vernacular building that many visitors prefer over modern builds.

The North Cornwall Seven Bays stretch in a 5-mile arc north and west of St Merryn, giving a range of beach choices without long drives. Trevone Bay is 3.3km, with a small car park and a natural rock pool at the headland. Harlyn Bay is 3.4km, with surf schools and lifeguard cover in season. Treyarnon Bay, known for its shallower waters and National Trust car park, is 3.7km. Mother Ivey's Bay and Constantine Bay are within the same general range.

Padstow is 5.5 miles south. The drive takes around 10 minutes and gives access to the harbour, seafood restaurants, and the start of the Camel Trail cycling route. The Black Tor ferry to Rock crosses the Camel Estuary in summer, and the town has independent food shops and a weekly farmers' market. For a quieter dinner, the village of St Merryn has a pub within walking distance of the cottage.

Suits couples or families of four who want access to multiple beaches without paying Padstow-adjacent prices. The 2-dog allowance and on-site parking address the two most common practical requirements. Not great for those who want luxury fittings or a town-centre location - this is a working village cottage, not a boutique property.
