Watson Cottage is a renovated four-bedroom cottage within the St Mellion Estate resort, sleeping 8 with 4 bathrooms and a private garden. All four bedrooms use super-king-size zip-and-link beds that convert to twins on request, so the layout adapts to whichever mix of guests books.

The resort has two golf courses, including a course redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1988, plus a spa, gym, pool, bar and restaurant that guests can use alongside the cottage itself. Inside, a games room and a spacious kitchen give the group its own shared space too. Wi-Fi, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a wood burner are included, and EV charging and parking are provided on site. Up to two dogs can stay. Pool access here means resort entry rather than a private pool at the cottage. Nine reviews average 4.7, and the letting agent rates cleanliness and comfort five out of five.

The coast needs a drive from this inland base: Downderry Beach is 8.6 miles away and Whitsand Bay 8.9 miles, with Kingsand Beach a further 10.1 miles. Closer to home, Kit Hill's old mining chimney and cross-border views stand about 3 miles west, and Callington's shops are also 3 miles away. At the current rate of £3,010 a week, a full group of eight works out at just over £200 a head.

**Best for:** families or friends wanting flexible beds, four bathrooms and resort facilities such as golf and a pool. **Less good for:** guests expecting a private pool, a beach within walking distance or confirmed accessible accommodation.
