1 and Only

One of the Barepta Cove apartments in Carbis Bay, 1 and Only is reached from the car park through the main door and down a small set of stairs. A lift also serves the block, but it should not be relied on alone, since the stairs are the only route when it is out of service. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and the wood-floored living space combines a kitchen, dining table and two leather sofas with a leather chair, facing across the bay from floor-to-ceiling windows.

The apartment sleeps four. The king-size bedroom has an en-suite with a bath and a shower over it, and French doors to a sea-facing terrace with furniture, which the lounge also opens onto. The second bedroom is a twin with zip-and-link beds, and can be made up as a super-king if you ask at least seven days before arrival. A separate shower room has a walk-in shower. Extras include a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, Sky Q, a PS4 and a small welcome pack of tea, coffee, jam and a pint of milk. A travel cot, highchair and booster seat are available; bring your own cot bedding.

Guests share a communal garden with a link to the South West Coast Path, and the beach is 0.1 miles away. Parking is one gated space, with pay and display parking at the nearby train station car park for anything extra. Pets are not allowed and the apartment is no smoking. E-bikes and e-scooters must never be stored or charged on the premises. The block is scheduled to be repainted in March 2027, with scaffolding up for about four weeks; the work is aiming to finish by Easter.

1 and Only suits a couple or a family of four who want the beach on the doorstep, and it is less good for anyone with a dog, as none are allowed. The shop is 0.3 miles away and the pub 0.5 miles.
