18 The Sands

First-floor two-bedroom apartment on the Sands development in Carbis Bay, sleeping four with sea views across St Ives Bay and a private sea-facing balcony. Carbis Bay beach is 500m along the South West Coast Path - a 7-minute walk down through the village.

The living space opens through sliding doors onto the balcony, framing the bay across to Godrevy lighthouse. Two bedrooms sleep four: the master is en-suite, and the second bay-facing bedroom shares the family bathroom. Parking, WiFi, dishwasher and washing machine are included. The honest caveat is the first-floor location - check with the merchant about lift access before booking if stairs are an issue.

Carbis Bay railway station is a short walk for the branch-line train, the 5-minute coastal run to St Ives. The line is one of the most-photographed short journeys in Britain, hugging the cliffs between the two stations. Porthminster Beach in St Ives is 2.1 km away on foot via the coast path; you can also take the train and walk back.

For day trips, Lelant golf course and the Hayle Estuary RSPB reserve are 1 mile west, and Porthcurno's Minack Theatre sits 15 miles south for summer evenings.

Best for couples or a small family who want sea views, a sandy family beach within walking distance, and quick access to St Ives without staying in town. Less good for guests who can't manage stairs or want a ground-floor garden.
