A 19th-century semi-detached cottage on the edge of Manaccan village, close to the network of tidal creeks made famous by Daphne du Maurier's Frenchman's Creek. Three bedrooms sleep 5: a king-size with en-suite bathroom, a double with vaulted ceiling and original beams, and a single room. A second bathroom serves the upper rooms. The ground floor opens into a kitchen-diner warmed by an open fire, with a lawned rear garden holding a BBQ and views south toward the Lizard.

Ponsence Cove is 1.1 miles along footpaths through the valley - a small beach on the Helford River with a jetty used by local boaters. The Helford Passage foot ferry, which crosses the estuary to the north bank and the Ferryboat Inn, runs through the summer months. Helford Passage Beach is 1.1 miles from the cottage, and the wooded creek of Frenchman's Creek - open to walkers at all times - branches off the main river about 1.2 miles upstream.

Manaccan has a 12th-century church with a fig tree growing from the south wall and a single pub, the New Inn. Helston, the nearest town with supermarkets, is 5 miles northwest. The Lizard peninsula, with the most southerly point in mainland Britain at Lizard Point, begins 6.2 miles south.

Ideal for walkers and those with dogs who want a quiet rural base close to the Helford waterway. Accessible facilities are provided. Less good for guests expecting a seaside location - the nearest proper beach is just over half a mile walk through fields, and the village itself sits well inland from open water.
