Amethyst

Amethyst sits on the seaward side of Carbis Bay in the Compass Point development, and reaching it takes some effort: from the rear car park the way in is down 36 steps, through the lobby door and up one level by another 16 steps. The reward is a first-floor apartment whose sitting area and master bedroom look over the bay towards St Ives, with binoculars provided for spotting seals and dolphins. The home lies in Carbis Bay, and the beach is 0.3 miles away.

The apartment sleeps four. The king-size master bedroom has an en-suite shower, and the second bedroom has two single beds and glass French doors. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over. In the open-plan living space are cream sofas, an oak dining table with four chairs, a Smart TV with Freeview and a Blu-Ray player. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Two folding chairs, beach mats and a cricket set are provided, and a travel cot and highchair are supplied on the basis that guests bring their own cot bedding.

Outside there is a communal garden with furniture, and a communal terrace for the panoramic view. One parking space is allocated, and visitor parking is first come, first served. No pets are allowed and the apartment is no smoking. Gas central heating is included in the rent, as are bed linen and towels. The shop is 0.5 miles away and the pub 0.8 miles.

Amethyst suits a couple or a small family who can manage stairs, and it is less good for anyone who finds steps hard, because the access route is not suitable for limited mobility.
