Daymer Bay Beach, a sheltered sandy stretch with calm, shallow water favoured by families, is a 3-minute walk. Greenaway Beach, a quiet cove with rock pools and snorkelling, lies 600 metres to the north. Polzeath, with its surf breaks and seasonal lifeguards, is 0.9 miles further along the coast path. The church of St Enodoc, where the poet John Betjeman is buried, sits among the dunes a 10-minute walk from the car park. Rock is about a mile south, with a water taxi crossing the estuary to Padstow.

Best for a large group of up to ten arriving in separate cars, with parking for four and three bathrooms to share. Less good for anyone needing step-free access, since it's a top-floor apartment.
