Brinyloft

Brinyloft is a duplex apartment in Carbis Bay, set above the beach, and the sea is in view from the open-plan living area and from both bedrooms. The king-size bedroom is on the ground floor, next to the family bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over. A staircase of 12 steps climbs from the living area to the twin room on the mezzanine level, so the two beds sit on different floors.

The living space combines a fitted kitchen with a breakfast bar, a reclaimed wood dining table for four and two sofas facing a Smart TV with Freeview and a Blu-ray player. A door leads from here to the private balcony, and a communal terrace on the seaward side has furniture too. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, a microwave and a Nespresso machine, and WiFi is included. So are bed linen, towels, fuel and power. A cot and highchair are provided, but guests bring their own cot bedding.

Reaching the front door takes effort. From the car park it is forty-one steps up two flights of stairs, then seven steps down to the door. The route by the road also ends in steps down. Parking is off-road for one car. The owners occasionally bring their cat to the apartment. Carbis Bay Beach is 0.3 miles away, the shop 0.5 miles and the pub 0.8 miles, and the scenic railway into St Ives is close by.

It suits a couple or a small family who want the sea view from bed. It is less good for anyone who finds many steps difficult, and the twin room is only reached by the internal stairs. No pets and no smoking. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
