Caelum
2-bed bungalow in Port Isaac, 400m to Port Gaverne cove, dog welcome
Caelum is a ground-floor bungalow on Silvershell Road in Port Isaac, sleeping six across two bedrooms with one bathroom and a separate cloakroom. One bedroom has a king-size bed and bunk beds - practical for a family with kids - and the other has twin beds. The garden has a picnic table and off-road parking is included. One dog is welcome.
Inside, wifi and a washing machine are provided. The layout is all on one level, which helps for managing young children and for getting a dog in and out easily.
Port Gaverne Beach is 400 metres from the front door - a sheltered inlet facing north, calm in most conditions and good for paddling. Port Isaac harbour itself, with the Platt slipway and the cluster of restaurants that include the Outlaw's fish bar, is a short walk in the other direction. The South West Coast Path runs through Port Isaac in both directions, with the section north to Tintagel offering some of the most dramatic cliff scenery on the north Cornwall coast. Polzeath, a better surf beach, is 6.7km south.
Best for: families with young children or a dog who want flat access to a calm cove and a working harbour village with good food. Less good for: those wanting a private garden or a beach within direct walking distance of a surf break.
