Chimings

Chimings is a single-storey cottage in Rock on the east bank of the Camel Estuary, sleeping 6 guests across 3 bedrooms. The all-ground-floor layout makes it accessible without stairs, and ample off-road parking removes the hassle of tight Cornish lanes.

Inside, there are three bedrooms - one super-king with en-suite shower room, and two twins (convertible to super-kings on request). A separate bathroom has both a bath and shower, plus there is a cloakroom. The sitting room has an open fire, and the kitchen-diner comes equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. WiFi and central heating are included. Note that linen and towels are not provided.

The garden has a lawn, patio with furniture, and a barbecue - well suited to summer evenings. Daymer Bay, a sheltered sandy beach backed by dunes, is 1.4 miles away. Greenaway Beach is 1.7 miles and Polzeath - with its reliable surf break - is 2.1 miles north.

Rock's waterfront has sailing schools and the Mariners pub, and a water taxi crosses to Padstow every 20 minutes through the day, giving access to Rick Stein's restaurants and the harbour without driving. The Camel Trail cycle path starts at Wadebridge, 4 miles south. Prices start from GBP 3,394 per week, with changeover on Thursdays.

Best for larger families needing stair-free living, with the Rock water taxi a short stroll from the door. Less good for anyone travelling light - linen and towels are not provided, so pack or book extras.
