Chy-An-Dowr

Chy-An-Dowr is a contemporary three-bedroom cottage at Little Trelyn in Rock, on the east bank of the Camel Estuary opposite Padstow. The property has a modern finish with clean lines and a multi-fuel stove in the open-plan living space.

A king-size double with en-suite shower room occupies one end of the cottage, with two twin rooms and a family bathroom (bath and shower) completing the sleeping arrangements. The open-plan kitchen and sitting room has a dining area, flatscreen TV with soundbar, and the multi-fuel stove as a focal point. A utility room handles laundry. Bed linen and towels are not included.

The garden backs onto open ground, though an unfenced shallow stream runs along the bottom - worth noting for families with young children. One pet is welcome. Daymer Bay Beach, a sheltered estuary beach with calm shallow water at the mouth of the Camel, is 1.5 miles south. Greenaway Beach, a quiet cove with rock pools rich in marine life, is 1.9 miles away.

Rock's waterfront has sailing and waterski schools, and the water taxi to Padstow runs every 20 minutes for access to Rick Stein's restaurants and the harbour. Polzeath, with its reliable surf break, is about 2 miles north. The Camel Trail cycle path can be picked up at Wadebridge, 4 miles south.

Best for a group of up to six with one pet, drawn to the multi-fuel stove and Camel Estuary setting near Rock. Less good for anyone bringing a car, since no off-road parking is provided, or families with young children, since an unfenced stream runs along the bottom of the garden.
