Porthkidney Beach - a wide, uncrowded strand within the Hayle Estuary SSSI - lies 2.5 miles away. Hayle itself sits at the eastern end of St Ives Bay, with the RSPB estuary reserve drawing wading birds year-round. St Ives is 3 miles west by road, and the St Ives Bay Line railway connects through to the mainline at St Erth.

Suits a couple or small family who prefer a single-storey cottage with no internal stairs. Less good for anyone who cannot manage steps, as they lead down to the entrance.
