Clematis House

Clematis House is a four-bedroom property on Union Hill in St Columb Major, sleeping up to nine guests. The town sits 6 miles inland from Newquay, with Padstow and the Camel Estuary about 20 minutes by car - a central position for reaching beaches on both coasts.

Each of the four bedrooms has its own en-suite: three with walk-in showers and one with both bath and walk-in shower. Heated towel rails feature throughout. The sitting room has a woodburning stove, and there is a separate dining room, kitchen, and utility. A ground-floor cloakroom adds convenience. The house has WiFi, a Smart TV, and a piano.

Off-road parking takes three cars. The enclosed rear garden has outdoor furniture, and two small dogs are welcome (not allowed upstairs or on furniture). Steps throughout the property mean it is not suited to those with limited mobility.

Watergate Bay - a 2-mile stretch of sand with consistent surf and beachside restaurants - is 4.6 miles away. Mawgan Porth, a wide bay with rock pools and surf schools, is 4.7 miles. St Columb Major itself has pubs, independent shops along Fore Street, and a 15th-century church. The town is best known for Hurling the Silver Ball, a centuries-old street game played on Shrove Tuesday.
