Falmouth is 8km south and gives access to Maenporth Beach (7.9km from the cottage), Swanpool Beach (8.3km), and the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Truro is roughly the same distance north - cathedral, shops, and the county's main transport hub. The Gwennap Pit, a naturally formed grass amphitheatre in the hillside where John Wesley preached to thousands in the 18th century, is in the parish and worth a stop. The Eden Project is about 16km north-east via the A30.

Best for a couple wanting a peaceful inland base with good road access to both coast and city. Less good for those without a car - the location is rural and the nearest beaches require driving.
