Crantock Beach is 900m from the front door - a south-facing sandy beach at the mouth of the Gannel estuary, with a lifeguard patrol in summer. Fistral Beach, Newquay's main surf beach with BSA-affiliated surf schools, is 1 mile across the headland. The smaller Vugga Cove is also 1 mile away and rarely busy.

Crantock village itself sits above the beach with a 13th-century church, a post office, and the Bowgie Inn pub overlooking the headland. Newquay town centre is under 1.9 miles away by car, with rail connections, a range of restaurants, and the Blue Reef Aquarium. The village is walkable day-to-day for basics but a car helps for wider exploration.

Good for families with dogs wanting village life and quick beach access. The wood burner and open fire extend the season usefully for October half-term. Less good for those wanting total seclusion from town.
