Byron’s Retreat

Byron's Retreat is a single-storey bungalow on a quiet close in Crantock, with a hot tub in its secluded, enclosed rear garden. The garden also has a patio and furniture. The shop is 0.3 miles away, the two pubs and a seasonal cafe that becomes a pizzeria in the evening are 0.4 miles, and the beach and dunes are 0.8 miles, with a National Trust car park if you need one.

Six guests share three bedrooms: a super-king with an en-suite walk-in shower, a king-size and a twin. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over. The kitchen/diner has an electric oven, an induction hob, a combination microwave oven and a Nespresso machine, and the sitting room has a Smart TV; there is a second TV as well. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, but bring your own beach towels.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, though never in the bedrooms. Smoking is not allowed. Because of the fire risk from lithium batteries, electric bikes and scooters cannot be charged or stored inside. The nearest fast EV chargers are 2.5 miles away, and a large supermarket is 3.2 miles off. Parking takes two cars off-road, with extra space on the roadside.

The bungalow can also be booked together with a neighbouring cottage, which brings the combined party to eight. On its own it suits two couples or a family of six with dogs, and it is less good for anyone hoping to let dogs sleep in the bedrooms.
