Downlea is a mid-terraced cottage in Looe, sleeping 5 across 3 bedrooms and 2 floors, with 1 bathroom. The living room has an open fire, which adds considerably to the appeal in spring or autumn. Wi-Fi, parking, dishwasher, washing machine, and a garden are all included. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Saturday changeover.

East Looe Beach is 700m from the front door - a compact sandy beach running along the eastern side of the Looe estuary, with a good surf shop and seasonal lifeguard cover. Hannafore Beach and Plaidy Beach are both within 0.9 miles, the latter a quieter rock pool beach away from the main harbour crowds.

Looe itself is a working fishing town divided by the river into East and West Looe, linked by a Victorian bridge. The quayside has a daily fish market, several seafood restaurants, and boat trips to Looe Island marine reserve. The town is flat along the harbour front but rises steeply on both sides, so the cottage's position on Higher Beech Terrace likely involves a short climb from the beach.

Suits families or small groups wanting an in-town base within walking distance of the beach, shops, and the harbour. The open fire makes it viable for winter weekends. Less good for those who need more than one bathroom.
