Carbis Bay is 4.1km - a sheltered south-facing beach with white sand and calm water, well suited for swimming. Long Rock Beach is 3.9km, a broader stretch along the Penzance seafront with views across Mounts Bay.

St Ives is 5-10 minutes by car, with the Tate St Ives gallery, Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, and a concentration of independent restaurants and galleries around the harbour. Penzance is roughly the same distance in the other direction, with a mainline railway station and the Scilly ferry terminal. The Merry Maidens stone circle is about 10 miles south if archaeology is on the agenda.

Ideal for a group of 6 wanting a quiet village base with access to both St Ives and Penzance. The piano and open fire make it a reasonable year-round option. Less good for those set on walking to the beach - 4km is too far on foot with young children. No pets. 31 reviews on Sykes; Friday changeover.
