Highwood

Highwood is a three-bedroom cottage on the eastern fringe of Looe, set above the bay with the South West Coast Path running past the door. Sleeps six across two bathrooms, with a sea view that runs out across the harbour mouth.

Inside, two bathrooms and three bedrooms split the layout cleanly for a family of six or two couples sharing. The kitchen is set up for proper self-catering with dishwasher and washing machine, and wifi reaches throughout. Step access is reasonable, though the hillside setting means the approach involves a climb.

Outside, a private garden gives a flat patch to sit and a parking space on site - the latter genuinely matters in Looe, where the centre car parks fill by mid-morning in summer. The coast path runs west into town in roughly 15 minutes' walk, dropping past Hannafore toward Talland Bay and Polperro for longer stretches. East, the path climbs along the cliffs toward Millendreath and on to Whitsand Bay.

East Looe Beach sits a short walk down into town, sheltered by the harbour walls and lifeguarded in summer. The fish quay lands the inshore catch most mornings, and the foot ferry crosses to West Looe for the rock pools at Hannafore.

Best for couples or small families who want sea views and a coast path location without paying for a harbourside conversion. Less good for anyone who needs flat walking from the door, or guests who want to step straight into the town centre - it's a 10 to 15-minute walk down (and back up).
