Island View

Island View is a ground-floor apartment in the sub-tropical communal gardens of Chy-an-Kerris on Headland Road in Carbis Bay, part of the former home of the artist Barbara Hepworth. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the open-plan living room show St Ives Bay, and two leather sofas and a cushioned window seat face them. The dining area seats four at a glass-topped table, and you can watch the waves from the kitchen sink.

The rear king-size bedroom has French doors onto a decked terrace. The second bedroom, to the side, is en-suite with a walk-in shower and holds twin beds that can be made into a 6ft super-king on request, at least 7 days before arrival, or later requests are subject to enquiry and extra housekeeping costs. There is also a bathroom with a bath and a shower over. The kitchen has an air fryer, a washer/dryer, a dishwasher and a coffee machine, and the TV has Sky HD with sports. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included, and there is WiFi.

Outside, guests share a decked courtyard, a communal garden with two sun loungers and landscaped grounds with a private gate to the coast path. The beach is 4 minutes away on foot, the scenic railway 3 minutes, and the shop is 0.4 miles and the pub 1.2 miles. Access is down 15 external steps, then up one step at the front door. One car can park off the road. A cot and highchair are provided; bring your own cot bedding.

It suits a family of four or two couples who want a choice of double or twin beds. It is less good for anyone who cannot manage the 15 steps. No pets and no smoking. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
