Karndu Retreat is a two-bedroom ground-floor apartment in Hayle on the north coast of west Cornwall, sleeping four in a king bed and twin room. Single-level accommodation distinguishes it from the older terraced cottages in the town centre.

Inside, the apartment has two bathrooms including an en-suite shower room, and the layout sits entirely on the ground floor. The approach from the parking space into the secure communal foyer is level. The twin beds can be configured as a super king for a second couple. High-specification finishes run across the build, which forms part of the Harvey Quay development.

Outside, the apartment overlooks Carnsew Pool, an RSPB nature reserve flanked by the tidal estuary. Private parking is included. The South West Coast Path runs next to the property, so walkers can pick up the trail straight from the gate. Porthkidney sands is 1 mile away, Carbis Bay 2.1 miles and Gwithian Towans 3 miles.

Hayle itself has a World Heritage harbour, a working railway station and a reputation as a walkers' town. St Ives and St Michael's Mount are both 7 miles away, with Penzance 8 miles and Land's End 18 miles, making the apartment a practical base for west Cornwall. Changeover is on Saturday.

**Best for:** walkers wanting a coast-path base, given the South West Coast Path runs right past the gate and the apartment overlooks the Carnsew Pool nature reserve. **Less good for:** a family wanting to step straight onto sand, since the nearest beach, Porthkidney, is a mile away.
