La Folie, Fowey

La Folie is a renovated Victorian townhouse in Fowey (pronounced "Foy") spread over four floors, with three bedrooms sleeping six. Bifold doors from the kitchen open onto a walled courtyard, and the south-facing roof terrace looks across the estuary to Polruan. The townhouse holds the LUXLife Most Charming Waterfront Holiday Home Cornwall award for both 2024 and 2025, and the Must Visit Award Cornwall 2026.

The layout runs across four floors with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, wifi, dishwasher and a barbecue on the courtyard. At GBP 745/week sleeping six, that works out at about GBP 18 per person per night in low season. Be honest about access: 20 steps to the front door and three internal staircases. Not workable for anyone with significant mobility limits.

Whitehouse Beach, with its 1920s children's sea pool, sits 50 yards from the door - the Polruan passenger ferry slip is right alongside, running every 10 to 15 minutes. Readymoney Cove is 800 metres along the coast path below St Catherine's Castle. Sam's on Fore Street and Appleton's are within a 5-minute walk through the town. The Eden Project is 8 miles north, the Lost Gardens of Heligan 14 miles.

Best for families or two couples who want a waterfront base with the ferry on the doorstep. Less good for anyone who needs single-floor living - this is a tall townhouse with a lot of stairs.
