Lakeside Byre

Lakeside Byre is a single-storey converted stable cottage on an estate near Kilkhampton in north Cornwall, built without internal steps and with wider doorways throughout - accessible for guests with reduced mobility. Three bedrooms sleep six across a super-king zip-link bed (convertible to twins on request), a double, and a twin. The beamed lounge has a cathedral ceiling and a wood burner at its centre.

Shared estate facilities are the standout: an indoor swimming pool, sauna, a hot tub, tennis court, four coarse fishing lakes, children’s play area, and woodland walks through the grounds. The private patio has its own hot tub and BBQ. Dogs are not accepted; EV charging is on site, and parking is included. No wifi is available at this property.

Sandymouth Beach - a National Trust beach with reliable surf and a cafe - is about 4.6 miles away. Bude, with its sea pool, surf schools, and canal walks, is roughly 8 miles. The Tamar Lakes walking route starts about 1 mile from the door - two reservoirs with waymarked paths that make for an easy afternoon walk. The north Cornwall coast path connects to Crackington Haven and Boscastle within easy driving distance.

Best for: families or groups wanting onsite resort facilities without a resort price tag, and accessible stays where level access matters. Less good for: guests who need wifi, want beach access on foot, or are travelling with a dog - dogs are not accepted.
