Love Cottage Wadebridge

Surrounded by leafy lanes and a patchwork of woods and farmland, this holiday cottage in St Wenn suits a pet-loving pair. It sits close to the market town of Wadebridge, from where the Camel Trail runs to Bodmin one way and Padstow the other, each about 12 miles off. Padstow is known for its food scene but also has fishing trips, the South West Coast Path, and a ferry across to Rock. A cross-country drive reaches the Seven Bays coastline, where Constantine Bay (14 miles) is a west-facing spot popular for surfing and sunset walks.

Park outside and follow the path from the gate to the front door - the owners live close by, but the cottage is private and self-contained. Inside, a light living room has wooden flooring, a pair of sofas, a Smart TV, and a feature electric fire, plus books and games for a quiet evening. The kitchen/dining room has the essentials for self-catering, including a coffee machine. Stairs lead from the living room to a first-floor double bedroom set below the eaves, with a shower room and a landing clothes storage area.

Outside, guests have their own secluded seating area, and dogs are free to roam the adjacent paddock on a short walk up the track. Local footpaths lead further afield, including one to a nearby river, and the owner offers pet-sitting and dog-walking. There is private parking for one car.

Best for a couple travelling with a dog who want rural quiet rather than a coastal base, since the nearest beaches are all more than 7.5 miles away. Less good for larger groups, as the cottage has just one bedroom and sleeps two.
