Pendeen sits on the exposed north-west tip of the Penwith peninsula, in former tin mining country. The village has a pub, a general store, and the Geevor Tin Mine museum - a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most complete surviving mine complexes in Cornwall. The engine houses and man-engine shaft are open to visitors and the site runs underground tours.

The nearest listed beach is Priests Cove, 2.5 miles to the south - a small cove below Cape Cornwall where fishing boats are still launched from a natural ramp. It has no lifeguard cover but is sheltered from northerly winds. Gwynver Beach, 4.4 miles away, is a longer stretch of sand near Sennen that draws surfers. Sennen Cove itself is 5.5 miles from the cottage, with a surf school and cafe on the beach.

Good for groups and families of up to 7 who want a working village base in west Cornwall with access to mining heritage, coastal walking, and surf beaches within a short drive. Less good for guests who need a beach within walking distance. Changeover is Saturday.
