Nelsons Cottage

Nelsons Cottage is a three-bedroom double-fronted Victorian cottage in East Looe, sleeping six across two bathrooms. The cottage takes its name from a grey seal that lived in the Looe estuary for several years - the seal is now commemorated with a statue at the harbour entrance. Prices start from GBP 659 per week.

The recently refurbished interior has light reception rooms, a spacious kitchen and dining area, and gas central heating throughout. The front bedrooms face the street with bay windows and sea views. A third bedroom sits to the rear. Parking is available 10 yards from the cottage - a meaningful advantage in East Looe, where summer spaces fill before 9am on busy days.

East Looe Beach is a few steps from the front door, sheltered by the harbour walls and lifeguarded in summer. The working harbour still lands daily catch, and blue shark fishing trips depart from the quayside in summer. The Victorian bridge across the estuary connects to West Looe and Hannafore, where some of Cornwall's best rock pools can be found. The South West Coast Path heads west from the harbour towards Talland Bay and on to Polperro.

Best for families or groups of six who want to be in the centre of a working harbour town with beach access on foot and easy parking. Less good for those seeking rural quiet - East Looe is a busy town in summer, and the cottage is on an active street close to the harbour.
