The town has a good range of independent shops and restaurants along Belle Vue and the surrounding streets.

Northcott Mouth, a more secluded beach with no facilities, is further north along the coast path. The nearby Atlantic Highway gives straightforward access to Tintagel and the north Cornwall coast.
