Penelope is a one-bedroom apartment at Mullion Cove Hotel and Spa, sitting on the southern tip of the Lizard. It sleeps 2 with 1 bathroom and comes with sea views across the cove. The hotel grounds include a shared heated outdoor pool, an enclosed garden, and parking - facilities that set this apart from standard self-catering.

Mullion Cove Beach is 200m from the front door - a compact sandy cove tucked beside the working harbour. Polurrian Beach, a wide arc of sand popular with families, is 800m north. Poldhu Cove, noted for its radio history and National Trust parking, is 1.9km along the coast path.

Inside, the apartment has a dishwasher, washing machine, and Wi-Fi. The changeover day is Saturday. No pets accepted. Two reviews logged on Sykes at the time of writing.

The Lizard carries some of the most distinctive geology in Britain - the dark serpentine rock is visible in the cliffs around the cove. Mullion village is about a mile inland with a Co-op, pub, and post office. Kynance Cove, the most photographed cove on the Lizard, is a short drive south along the coast road.

Best for couples wanting a quiet, sea-facing base with hotel-style facilities on hand - pool, grounds, and staff presence - without the cost of a full hotel room. Less good for families needing multiple bedrooms or guests travelling with dogs. The one-bedroom layout and no-pets rule make it a specific fit.

The South West Coast Path runs directly past Mullion Cove, giving immediate access to clifftop walking in both directions without needing a car. Porthleven is about 7 miles north for fish restaurants and the harbour.
