Polgassic Mill is a four-bedroom stone barn conversion 2 miles north-west of Polperro, set over three floors with three bath or shower rooms. It is a quieter choice than the village cottages. Changeover is on Friday, with check-in at 4pm and check-out at 10am.

The conversion spreads four bedrooms across three floors, with three bathrooms shared between them. An open fire, dishwasher, washing machine and wifi are all in. Dogs are welcome.

Outside, a wraparound enclosed garden has a small stream running through it and parking for two cars at the door. The setting is rural rather than harbourside - quiet evenings, no foot traffic past the windows.

Polperro itself is a 5-minute drive: 13 working fishing boats, the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing and the Three Pilchards pub on the quay. Cars stop at Crumplehorn car park; walk down or take the village shuttle. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are inside an hour by car. Best for two families sharing or a couples-plus-friends booking that wants space and quiet. Less good for guests who want to walk to a pub - it's a drive each way. Stock up in Looe or Polperro before you settle in for a quiet stay.
