Hillsview is a three-bedroom semi-detached house on the outskirts of Polperro, sleeping 8 across 4 adults and 4 children thanks to bunk beds in two of the rooms. From GBP 465 per week (up to GBP 1,039 in peak season), it works out as low as GBP 8 per person per night off-peak.

The three bedrooms share a single bathroom - the main caveat for a sleep-8 booking. Wifi, dishwasher, washing machine and step-free ground-floor access are all in. Dogs are welcome.

A large sunny rear decked terrace gives outdoor seating with rural hillside views. Off-road parking takes two average-sized cars, which matters because Polperro itself is car-free below Crumplehorn.

The harbour and tidal beach are a 15-20 minute downhill walk; the Crumplehorn Inn is 5 minutes down a country lane. Local taxi firms will run guests into the village for a small fee. Talland Bay (1 mile west, two beach cafes, year-round dogs) is the nearest swim. The Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing, the Eden Project and Plymouth's National Aquarium are within day-trip range. Best for a multi-family or extended-family booking watching the budget. Less good if eight guests need more than one bathroom or want to walk straight onto the harbour.
