Mevagissey is one of the working fishing harbours still operating on the south Cornish coast, and the cottage sits on Polkirt Hill above the village. The harbour, fish shops, pubs, and narrow lanes are a short walk downhill. It is the kind of location that feels connected to the village rather than isolated from it.

Pentewan Beach is 1.4 miles south - a long sandy beach with a holiday park behind it, toilets, and a slipway. Gorran Haven is 1.9 miles along the coast path, a smaller cove with a slipway used by local boats. Hemmick Beach, quieter and accessed via a steep path, is 2.9 miles.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are approximately 3 miles inland - one of the largest garden restoration projects in Europe, covering around 200 acres. The Eden Project is further inland near St Austell.

Best for couples or small families who want to be in a working Cornish fishing village with beach access a short drive away. Less good for those wanting to avoid hills - Mevagissey and the surrounding lanes are steep.
