A short stroll leads to Porthtowan, with its mermaid pool - a large rock pool visible at low tide - a village shop, and places to eat. The coast path here sometimes turns up dolphins, seals or a basking shark offshore. St Agnes, with more beaches, coves and eateries, and sunset views from the Beacon, is also nearby, and The Eden Project, Godrevy and St Ives are all within 20 miles.

The lodge is reached by a level pathway to the side decking or steps to the main decking area. Inside, an open-plan living space has a well-equipped kitchen for cooking or packing a picnic, and a wood burner for evenings after a day on the South West Coast Path. There's a super king-size en-suite bedroom with TV and a twin zip-and-link bedroom (super king-size on request), plus a family bathroom.

The glass-covered terrace has a hot tub for dining al fresco in any weather, and a private sauna. The lodge faces woodland, with trees and shrubs around the garden for privacy and hill views from the lounge windows. An outside storage cupboard holds wetsuits, surfboards and body boards.
